1973 FORD MAVERICK GRABBER

A buddy of mine, Mike Wilburn, down in Roxsboro, N.C. called me and told me about this car two years ago. Whenever Mike tells me of a nice drag car, I always listen - especially when it's a mini tubbed ladder bar setup wheel standing small block Ford. I have always like the Mavericks because they will "Hook on Mud". When Mike told me how fast this car ran with a .060 over 302 I was amazed!

I quickly called the owner and made the deal. The owner told me that the car ran 6.72 in the 1/8 mile with an alcohol 750 style carb, Aluminum Edelbrock heads, .570 lift solid lifter cam ,5:86 9" gear, a 2 speed Power Glide with a 5000 stall converter, and crossed the finish line at 7500 rpm in the 1/8 on a 1974 stock crank and block!

This is one wicked sounding small block. I ran the car at KilKare Dragway in Xenia, Ohio last fall and we had a blast. It pulled the wheels up nice, went straight as an arrow and ran low 6.80's in the 1/8. Well, I'm noted for changing my engines like I change my underwear. Now it has a nice 347 Stroker with a callies crank, Trick Flow stage III Aluminum Heads, 850 Proform carb, full Competition Solid Roller Cam plus a Jerico DR4 Super Stock 4 speed. This Maverick carries the wheels in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears and will run 6.40's 1/8 mile times easily. It's pure meaness on the Dragstrip!

This car is not for sale until I'm done playing.
